The 2024 Show, aptly named "Journeys," takes audiences on an epic voyage, celebrating the seafarers who bravely traverse the oceans to connect people and cultures worldwide. Running until August 24th, this year's Tattoo features the Royal Navy as the Lead Service, joined by over 800 performers from around the globe. The iconic Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle serves as the grand stage for this artistic odyssey, combining traditional elements with modern innovations.

A Global Gathering of Talent

This year's Tattoo brings together an impressive lineup of talent from the USA, India, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, and the UK. Each performance is a powerful blend of tradition and modernity, featuring creative projections, precision drills, vibrant dances, and more. The Show’s highlights include:

- The Massed Pipes and Drums: Providing the stirring sounds that Tattoo fans know and love.

- The United States Navy Ceremonial Guard: Showcasing precision and poise.

- The Tattoo Dancers: Bringing elegance to the stage.

- The Citadel Regimental Band and Pipes, and the United States Sea Service Band: Adding a unique musical dimension to the event.

- Teamwork Arts India: Presenting The Rajasthani Bagpiper, The Bhangra Queens, and the Bollywood Ensemble in a burst of energy and color.

A Grand Finale to Remember

As the Lead Service, the Royal Navy takes center stage alongside the Royal Marines, culminating in a grand finale where The Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines perform the National Anthem. This performance is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest shows on earth, blending tradition with contemporary flair.

Words from the Creative Director

Michael Braithwaite, Creative Director of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, expressed his excitement for this year's Show: “Journeys is a vibrant celebration of connection between peoples and cultures. As the Tattoo continues to evolve, so do the performers who light up the stage in August. I can’t wait for audiences to see the results of the hard work put in over the last year from everyone involved in the show. Audiences are in for a night to remember.”

Braithwaite emphasizes the Show's unique blend of traditional military elements and modern touches through creative projection, technology, costume design, and musical inspirations, creating a truly impactful performance.
